Hi everyone, and welcome to Word Kitchen. I am Maya.
And I am Lena. Hi, Maya.
Hi, Lena. Today we talk about health. We learn five new words.
Great. Health is important for all of us.
Yes. Our five words are nurse, hospital, medicine, pill, and fever.
Let's start with nurse. A nurse is a person. The nurse helps sick people.
Right. When I was a child, I was sick. A kind nurse gave me water. The nurse smiled at me.
Nurses are so kind. My sister is a nurse. She works every day and helps many sick people.
That is wonderful. So, remember: a nurse helps sick people.
Our next word is hospital. A hospital is a big building. Sick people go to the hospital.
Yes. The nurse works at the hospital. When people are very sick, they go to the hospital.
I went to the hospital last year. The hospital was big and clean. A nurse welcomed me at the door.
Many nurses and doctors work at the hospital. They help people feel better at the hospital.
Our third word is medicine. Medicine helps you when you are sick. You take medicine to feel better.
Right. When you have a fever, the nurse gives you medicine. Medicine helps your body get well.
My doctor gave me medicine last week. I took the medicine with water. Now I feel good.
Good. So medicine is what you take when you are sick.
Our fourth word is pill. A pill is a small round medicine. You take the pill with water.
Yes. A pill is one kind of medicine. Some medicine is a pill. You eat the pill with water.
The nurse gave me a small white pill. She said, take the pill after breakfast. I took the pill with a glass of water.
That is easy to remember. A pill is small medicine you take with water.
Our last word is fever. When you have a fever, your body is very hot. A fever means you are sick.
Yes. If you have a fever, you stay in bed. The nurse can help you when you have a fever.
Last month I had a fever. My body was hot. I took medicine for the fever and I drank a lot of water.
And when you have a fever, it is good to go to the hospital. The nurse at the hospital can check your fever.
True. Let's use all five words in one little story.
Good idea. A man has a fever. He goes to the hospital. At the hospital, a kind nurse helps him. The nurse gives him medicine. The medicine is one small pill. The man takes the pill with water.
Nice story. Let's do it again with you, our listeners.
A woman has a fever. She goes to the hospital with her daughter.
At the hospital, a nurse smiles at them. The nurse gives the woman medicine.
The medicine is a small white pill. The woman takes the pill with water.
Then the nurse says, rest at home. Drink water. Your fever will go away.
Perfect. Now you know our five words: nurse, hospital, medicine, pill, and fever.
Say them with us. Nurse. Hospital. Medicine. Pill. Fever.
Great job. Use these words this week. Thank you for listening to Word Kitchen.
Bye, everyone. Stay healthy.

We use the second conditional for dreams and wishes. It is not real now. **If I were a nurse, I would help many sick people.** This is a dream, not real. We use **if** + past simple in the first part. **Were** and **had** are past verbs. We use **would** + verb in the second part. **Would go** is not real now, it is a wish.
