Listen to todayβs conversation.
Hi everyone, and welcome to Word Kitchen. I am Maya.
And I am Lena. Today we talk about feelings.
Yes. We learn five new words today. All five are about how we feel.
The first word is happy. When you smile, you are happy.
I am happy today. The sun is out, and I am happy.
My friend is happy too. She is happy because it is her birthday.
A happy day is a good day. Do you feel happy now? I hope you are happy.
Happy people laugh a lot. I love a happy face.
The next word is sad. Sad is not happy. When you cry, you are sad.
Yesterday I was sad. My favorite cup broke, and I was sad.
It is okay to be sad sometimes. A sad movie can make us sad.
But sad days pass. Tomorrow is a new day, and the sad feeling goes away.
A sad friend needs a hug. Call your friend when he is sad.
The third word is tired. After a long day, you are tired.
I am tired tonight. I worked all day, and now I am tired.
My brother is tired too. He ran a lot, and he is tired.
When you are tired, you need rest. A tired body needs sleep.
Are you tired now? Sit down, rest, and the tired feeling will go.
A tired student can sleep early. Go to bed when you are tired.
The fourth word is hungry. When you need food, you are hungry.
The baby is hungry. She is hungry and wants milk.
I am hungry at noon. Lunch time makes me hungry.
A hungry stomach says, eat now. Do not wait when you are hungry.
Eat an apple, and you are not hungry anymore. Good food ends a hungry feeling.
A hungry dog eats fast. Feed the dog when he is hungry.
The last word is angry. Angry means you are mad.
He is angry with me. I was late, and he is angry.
Do not be angry. Take a breath when you feel angry.
An angry voice is loud. Talk soft, and the angry feeling goes away.
I was angry yesterday, but now I am not angry. Angry days are short.
An angry heart is heavy. Let the angry feeling go, and smile.
Let me tell you about my day yesterday. I will use our five words.
Yes, please. Tell us.
In the morning, I was happy. The sun was out, and I was happy.
A happy morning is the best start.
At noon, I was hungry. I ate rice and bread, and then I was not hungry.
Good. A hungry person must eat.
In the afternoon, I was tired. My work was hard, and I was tired.
A tired person must rest. Did you rest?
Yes. I sat down, and the tired feeling went away.
In the evening, my brother was angry. He lost his ball, and he was angry.
Oh no. Was he angry for a long time?
No. We talked, and he was not angry anymore. He was happy again.
And no one was sad yesterday. That is good. A sad day is a hard day.
I love your day. Happy, hungry, tired, angry, and no sad.
So today we learned five feeling words. Let us say them one more time.
Happy, sad, tired, hungry, and angry.
How do you feel today? Are you happy, sad, tired, hungry, or angry?
Tell a friend how you feel. Use the new words every day.
Thank you for listening to Word Kitchen. See you tomorrow.

Sometimes we do not say who does the action. We say **is** or **are** instead. Use **is** for one thing. Use **are** for many things. The baby **is** happy. One baby, so we use **is**. The boys **are** tired. Many boys, so we use **are**. The form is very simple. It is **is** or **are** + the verb in past form, like opened, cooked, or closed.
