Hello and welcome to Word Kitchen! I am Maya.
And I am Lena. Today we talk about travel and transport. Ten easy words!
Word one: car. A car is a small road vehicle with four wheels.
A car takes you from home to work, or to the shops. I have a car. My car is red. Do you have a car?
Yes, my car is blue. I drive my car to work every day. A car is very useful.
Word two: bus. A bus is a big vehicle. Many people ride in a bus.
A bus is bigger than a car. I take the bus to the city. The bus is cheap. Do you like the bus?
Yes, the bus is good. I read a book on the bus. A bus stop is near my house.
Word three: train. A train is long. It runs on rails.
A train is fast. I love the train. Last week I took the train to my mother's house. The train was clean and quiet.
Trains are great for long trips. A train can be faster than a car.
Word four: taxi. A taxi is a car you pay to take you somewhere.
When I am late, I take a taxi. A taxi is fast, but a taxi is not cheap. The taxi driver was very kind.
Word five: plane. A plane flies in the sky.
A plane is the fastest way to travel. My first plane trip was to London. A plane has many seats. I like to sit by the window in a plane.
Word six: bike. A bike has two wheels. You ride a bike with your legs.
A bike is good for short trips. My son has a new bike. On Sundays we ride our bikes in the park.
Word seven: ticket. A ticket is a small paper. It lets you travel.
You need a ticket for the train. You need a ticket for the plane. I bought my ticket yesterday. A ticket can be cheap or dear.
Word eight: road. A road is a long hard path. Cars and buses use the road.
The road to the airport is long. Be careful on the road. A wide road is good for a bike.
Word nine: station. A station is the place where trains and buses stop.
I waited at the station for my friend. The station was big. A station has many people in the morning.
Word ten: airport. An airport is the big place where planes take off and land.
The airport is very big. I was at the airport at six in the morning. My plane left the airport at eight.
