Welcome to Word Kitchen! Today we are talking about nature. Nature is all around us: trees, rivers, the sun, and more.
Yes! I love nature. Let's start with the sun. The sun is in the sky every day. The sun gives us light and warm days.
The sun is very important. In summer the sun is hot. I love to walk in the sun. But too much sun can burn your skin!
True. Sun, sun, sun. We say the word a lot because we see it every day. What about a tree? A tree is a big plant with leaves.
Trees give us shade from the sun. I sat under a tree yesterday. The tree was very old and tall. Birds like to sit in trees too.
Birds! A bird is an animal with wings. A bird can fly. I saw a small bird in the park. The bird was singing in the tree. I love that little bird!
A river is water that moves. A river runs through the land to the sea. Fish live in the river. We sat by the river and watched the water.
The river was so calm. A river can be long and wide. People swim in the river in summer. I want to visit that river again!
The sea is big water, bigger than a river. The sea is blue and deep. I love the sea in the morning. We walked by the sea and heard the waves.
The sea! Many boats sail on the sea. Fish and big animals live in the sea. I want to swim in the sea this weekend.
A flower is the pretty part of a plant. Flowers have bright colors. I picked a red flower for you. The flower smells so nice! One flower can make your day happy.
Thank you! I love that flower. A flower needs sun and rain. In spring the garden is full of flowers. That yellow flower is my favorite.
Rain is water from the sky. When rain falls, plants grow. I like the sound of rain. The rain helps the trees and flowers. Rain, rain. Do you like the rain, Lena?
I love the rain! After the rain, the air is fresh. The rain fills the river. Plants drink the rain. Yes, I really love the rain!
A cloud is white water in the sky. Look at that big cloud! The cloud is moving slowly. Dark clouds bring the rain. I see shapes in every cloud.
That cloud looks like a bird! Clouds change every minute. White clouds mean a sunny day. I love watching a cloud drift by.
A mountain is a very high hill. The mountain is covered with snow. We climbed a small mountain last year. From the top of the mountain, you can see the sea!
Wow! A mountain trip sounds great. The mountain air is so clean. Birds fly near the mountain. I want to see that mountain one day.
Grass is the green plant on the ground. The grass is soft. Children play on the grass. Cows eat the grass. Fresh green grass after the rain smells wonderful!
I love walking on the grass with no shoes. The grass feels cool. In the park the grass is so green. Let's have a picnic on the grass!
So today we learned ten nature words: the sun, a tree, a bird, a river, the sea, a flower, the rain, a cloud, a mountain, and grass.
Let's say them again: sun, tree, bird, river, sea, flower, rain, cloud, mountain, grass. Practice them today, and see you next time on Word Kitchen!
