Lena

And I see a red car in the street. Red cars are fast and beautiful.

Maya

Red is also the color of fire. A big red fire is very hot.

Lena

I have a red shirt. My red shirt is new, and I love it.

Maya

So red is everywhere. Now let us talk about blue.

Lena

Blue is the color of the sky. The sky is blue today, Maya.

Maya

Yes, blue is calm and quiet. I see a blue door on my street.

Lena

My cup is blue. A blue cup of hot tea is very nice in the morning.

Maya

Blue is great. Now let us count together. One, two, three, four.

Lena

Four! Four is a number. I have four pens in my bag.

Maya

Four pens? I have four pens too. And look, four of my pens are red!

Lena

Ha! Four red pens and four green pens. Green is the color of grass.

Maya

Maya

Now yellow. Yellow is the color of the sun. The sun is yellow in the blue sky.

Lena

I see a yellow bird in the tree. The yellow bird sings in the morning.

Maya

Look, four birds! One, two, three, four. Four yellow birds on the green tree.

Lena

Beautiful! Now the color black. Black is the darkest color. The night is black.

Maya

A black cat walks at night. The black cat is quiet and soft.

Lena

My shoes are black. Black shoes are good for school and for work.

Maya

White is next. White is the color of milk. The milk in my glass is white.

Lena

Snow is white. In winter, the snow is white and cold and clean.

Maya

Now a big number. I have ten fingers. Let us count them. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten!

Lena

Ten! Ten is a big number. Look, ten white flowers in the garden.

Maya

The white flowers are pretty. And look, the pink flowers are pretty too.

Lena

Pink is a soft color. Pink is like a soft, light red.

Maya

I see a pink balloon at the party. Look, four pink balloons!

Lena

Four pink balloons and ten pink flowers. So much pink!

Maya

Brown is next. Brown is the color of wood. Our table is brown.

Lena

Chocolate is brown. Brown chocolate is sweet, and I love it.

Maya

Look, ten pieces of brown chocolate on the table. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten!

Wow! Can we eat them? Ten pieces is a lot!
