Use the present perfect (have / has + past participle) for past experiences when you do not say when: 'I've been to the USA.' Use it for recent actions where the result matters now: 'I've cut my finger.' Use the past simple for finished actions when you say or know when: 'I went there last year.' Never use the present perfect with a finished past time like 'yesterday' or 'last week.' Use 'ever' and 'never' with the present perfect: 'Have you ever eaten sushi?' 'Already' goes in positive sentences; 'yet' goes at the end of negatives and questions.
