Maya

Hello, everyone! Welcome to Word Kitchen. I am Maya.

Lena

And I am Lena. Today we talk about food and kitchen words. Twelve words! Are you ready, Maya?

Maya

I am ready. And I am hungry! Let's start with food. First word: bread. Bread is food. You eat it every day. Soft, brown or white. You buy bread in a shop.

Lena

I love bread. In the morning, I eat bread with cheese. Cheese! That is our second word. Cheese is yellow or white. You put it on bread. It has a nice taste.

Maya

Oh yes, bread and cheese. Perfect breakfast. I eat bread and cheese every morning. Next word: egg. An egg comes from a chicken. White outside, yellow inside. You cook it in the morning.

Lena

I eat two eggs for breakfast. Boiled eggs, or eggs in a hot pan. Yum! Tell me, Maya, what do you drink for breakfast?

Maya

Good question! Next word: milk. Milk is a white drink. It comes from a cow. Children drink milk every day. It is good for your body.

Lena

I drink milk with my breakfast. Warm milk is nice. Cold milk is nice too. Now let's talk about fruit. Fruit is sweet and healthy.

Maya

Yes! Next word: apple. An apple is a round red or green fruit. Sweet and good for you. An apple a day keeps the doctor away! That means: eat fruit, stay healthy.

Lena

Ha ha, I like that! I eat an apple every day. Next fruit: banana. A banana is long and yellow. You open the skin and eat the soft fruit inside. Monkeys love bananas, and I love them too!

Maya

Me too. I eat a banana after lunch. Easy to carry, easy to eat. Next word: orange. An orange is a round orange fruit. Sweet juice inside. You can eat it or drink orange juice.

Lena

I drink orange juice every morning. One glass of orange juice. So good! Maya, what do you eat for lunch?

Maya

For lunch, I eat rice. Rice! That is our next word. Rice is white food. Small white pieces. You cook it in water. Many people in the world eat rice every day.

Lena

Rice with cheese is nice. Rice with an egg is nice too! You can eat rice with a spoon. Speaking of spoons, let's talk about kitchen tools now.

Maya

Great idea. Next word: spoon. A spoon is a small tool. You eat soup with a spoon. You eat rice with a spoon. A spoon is round and safe.

Lena

And next: knife. A knife is sharp. You cut bread with a knife. Be careful! A knife is not for small children. Knives are for adults.

Maya

Yes, be careful with a knife. Always cut slowly. Next word: fork. A fork has four small points. You eat food with a fork. You pick up food with a fork.

Lena

So we have three kitchen tools: spoon, knife, and fork. Spoon for soup and rice. Knife for cutting bread and cheese. Fork for picking up food.

Maya

Last word: water. Water is a clear drink. No color, no taste. You drink water every day. You cook rice in water. Water is very important for life.

Lena

Drink water every day! Eight glasses is good. So let's remember all twelve words. Food words: bread, cheese, egg, milk, apple, banana, orange, rice.

Maya

Kitchen words: spoon, knife, fork. And water. Twelve words! Say them with me: bread, cheese, egg, milk, apple, banana, orange, rice, spoon, knife, fork, water.

Lena

Great! Now you know twelve food and kitchen words. Use them today! Make breakfast with bread, egg, and milk. Eat an apple and a banana.

Maya

Cut the bread with a knife. Put cheese on the bread. Eat with a spoon and fork. Cook rice in water. And drink water every day!

Lena

I will make breakfast right now! Bread, cheese, and an egg. And a glass of orange juice.

Maya

Wonderful. Thanks for listening to Word Kitchen. Practice your twelve words today!

Lena

Bye, everyone! Eat well, drink water, and stay healthy!

πŸ“Grammar: Must, mustn't, and should

Use **must** for a rule. You **must** wash your hands before you eat bread. Use **should** for good advice. You **should** eat an apple every day. Use **mustn't** when the answer is no. You **mustn't** run in the kitchen. **Must** is strong. **Should** is soft β€” it is only a good idea.
